So today was the worst day ever. I tried to talk calmly with my daughter and her boyfriend, apologised for my outburst, and asked them to stay. I tried to explain to her boyfriend that I was actually joking about the cough. She was not being very helpful, she had an attitude just walking into the room. I told her I was happy for her to stay but she must wash her hands if she coughs...not a big ask.
I also told her she needed to help more around the house now she is on furlough and spend more time with her sisters, she wasn't having that either. She is happy with the relationship she has with her dad and her sisters, to be honest she doesn't spend any time with them really, she never comes out of her room. She did say she would help around the house though. However, she text me later and said her boyfriend was going home. His dad was coming to pick him up, he has been isolated for three weeks so no need for him to stay anymore, he needs to clear out his flat anyway and he is missing his own family. Not sure how she will cope without him, I am hopeful that it will encourage her to spend more time with the family......I am sad to see him go, sad for her mostly.
The news was devastating, almost 1000 deaths today. A very close friend of mine lost her dad today to Covid-19 - she is devastated, he went into hospital on Monday, tested positive on Tuesday and passed away this morning, no contact allowed, no visitors, can't see her sisters to comfort each other. Not even sure they will be allowed to have a funeral. Absolutely heart breaking. BoristheButcher is trending on twitter....they did leave it too late to lockdown, public pressure made them lockdown and now we are paying the price.
What is this doing to our mental health......I fear for my children....I fear for my eldest, she doesn't like to be on her own.
Very sad all around....
